Unfortunately I was out last night so missed the latest Radio 1 Essential Mix from two of the hottest producers out there at the moment, Alfie Granger-Howell and Nick Harriman - better known as Dusky.
The good news is, if you missed it too, its free to download on Soundcloud!
The two hour mix is packed with so many good DJs and producers including Huxley, Bicep, Midland and Kerri Chandler to name a few and showcases a current sound that I'm loving at the moment.
The mix is up-tempo deep house and I can't fault the tune selection - love their own track Numerical, and how can you resist a bit of MJ Cole - Sincere.
These guys were already building a great reputation but this Essential Mix has ensured they'll be a big thing...
Enjoy!

The week has absolutely flown by for me, which means its time for another Weekend Hot Mix. I've got a cracking hour of house music for you from James Winter.
James has recently signed to Leeds label Love Not Money Records and is a resident for local night In:Vision as well as Apogee in London. I met him back in March when he played alongside Franck Roger at Wire and I think he's an exciting DJ and producer with an ear for a great track.
Enjoy this one folks and have a great weekend!

It feels like ages since I've shared a mix I love with you and there could only be one option this week. It has to be the soundtrack to my Ibiza holiday...
Every year, my boyfriend has put together a mix that we listen to when driving round the island - to and from the beach, to and from the clubs, or just for chilling to by the pool.
This one is particularly special as it features loads of my favourite tracks (including a few Tracks of the Week) and its over two hours of the finest deep house out there.
Hope you enjoy this one as much as we have! Have a great weekend!

I'm going back to the old school with this one to celebrate the relaunch of legendary Leeds night Hard Times which kicks off back at the Warehouse with David Morales on 3rd June.
Hard Times has shared two sets, the first from Todd Terry at the Music Factory in 1994 and this absolute belter from Masters at Work genius Louie Vega who played in Mirfield (a tiny area of Leeds) in 1993!
Ok so I was only 9 at the time but I can still appreciate this set that's dusted with some true classics. I can only imagine being there on the night!
Enjoy and have a good weekend! (Be patient as it takes a few minutes to load)

For those of you that love soulful house, you'll know that this weekend is the one unmissable event of the year, the Southport Weekender.
For those of you that have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about, I'm referring to what can only be described as an institution, celebrating its 25th year this year. Weekender number 48 kicks off tomorrow, although no longer held in Southport (since Pontins went bust), the event will see 6,500 people descend on Minehead all sharing one thing in common; a passion for the finest quality soul and house music.
With a line up that includes legends that are Frankie Knuckles, Kerri Chandler, Derrick Carter and Dave Morales to newer talents Julio Bashmore and Andre Lodeman and featuring live vocals from Patrice Rushen, Jil Scott and Kenny Bobien... there truly is something on offer for everyone.
Still not convinced? Here's a two hour mix that my lovely mate Danny Kwang put together in the build up to the weekender... free to download as usual...
Would love to know what you think of the mix?

To celebrate a friends birthday this weekend, its all about Back to Basics where Art Department will be headlining on Saturday.
Signed to the Crosstown Rebels label, Canadian duo Kenny Glasgow and Jonny White are masters of a underground electronic sound with their signature synths and raw vocals.
Today's Weekend Hot Mix is two hours long and is the Essential Mix Art Department recorded for Radio 1 back in October last year.
My favourite track has to be Tanner Ross - B Side which I'm kicking myself wasn't Track of the Week a while back!
Free to download as usual if you like it...
Enjoy!

Hopefully you've all recovered from the four day weekend and have well and truly got that Friday feeling again...
My Weekend Hot Mix this week is an hour of the finest deep house from Roberto Rodriguez.
Some of you may be thinking the name sounds familiar... I mentioned him last month in my March Gigs post as a DJ/Producer that's definitely worth seeing. He played at Flux last month and put this mix together for their podcast.
This one is free to download if you like it...
Enjoy

Well Friday is finally here and rounding off an amazing sunny week, I have a mix to share with you from the lovely Rik Parkinson.
Rik is one of the Pioneer Pro-DJ's and is fortunate enough to have been over in Miami for the annual Winter Music Conference showcasing some of what will be this summers hottest tunes.
This is Rik's set live from La Tour pool party. Fingers crossed the sun continues as this one will sound even better...
Enjoy!

The weekend is finally here and that means the wait for my Hot Mix is finally over! Didn't manage to post last Friday as I was in transit between London and Leeds but I've got a gem of a mix this week that I can't wait to share with you...
For those of you that didn't manage to attend the Afro Coalition 1st Birthday or wouldn't have the first clue what all the fuss is about, here is Karizma's set live from the evening.
Lets get soulful!
Would love to know if you like this one!?

The weekend has finally landed and what better way to celebrate than with a bit of disco.
From the legend that is Greg Wilson, I've selected an Essential Mix he did back in 2009 for BBC Radio 1...
You lucky people have got 2 hours of quality music yet again, and with 43 different tracks on the mix - there's got to be something you like in there.
My personal favourite is the first one by The Originals - Down to Love Town, out on Motown Records in 1976.
As usual this one is available for free download - just hit the button below.
Would love to know if you like this one?

In honour of my Gig of the Month tonight (check post out here), this weekend's hot mix is going to be a deep house special.
This is my absolute favourite mix from 2011 - it got played more times than I care to admit on a two and a half week road trip in Croatia last year so for me it brings back great memories of summer.
Introducing the lovely Jonny Wren and his June 2011 Vibes Mix. Jonny is a resident at T-Pot in London and regularly plays at Below in Birmingham.
I love Jonny's style as he has a talent for keeping a groove running throughout a mix whether it be deep or techy - I challenge you to listen without nodding your head/tapping your feet!
There are so many great tracks on this 1 hr 40 minute mix and I'm not giving anything away before you've had a chance to listen - if you like it, feel free to hit the download button...
Would love to know what you think?

This is definitely one for the ladies! Something to listen to while you get ready or to get the party started before you head out...
This mix is a dedication to Speedqueen (the greatest club in Leeds) by one of my favourite DJ's, Tintin... (ok maybe I'm slightly biased as he's my fella).
Get your dance shoes on and enjoy!
Feel free to click the download button below if you want to listen again :)
